HAMILTON, Shirley-Elyse - It is with deep sadness the Hamilton family announces the passing of a beloved wife, mother and grandmother. Shirley passed away on January 4,2017 at home in the arms of her loving husband of 38 years, John. She is also survived her son Jason, daughter in law Suzette and Grandchildren Shyene and Mallory and many cousins throughout Ontario and Eastern Canada. Shirley was predeceased by her brother and her parents. Shirley and John had a unique bond of love, trust and respect. which never wavered. She dearly loved her 1-2-hour almost daily phone calls with Jason. She was extremely proud of he and his family and had an unmeasurable amount of love for them. Despite Shirleys many long-term health issues she maintained a cheerful outlook on life, had great respect and compassion for others and as a result, was loved by too many people to mention. She was a treasure and will be missed by many. A funeral service will be held at the Jennett Funeral and Cremation Centre,152 Bradford Street in Barrie on Tuesday January 10 at 11:00 AM. A visitation from 10:00 AM to 11:00 AM will precede the service. In lieu of flowers donations may be made to the Diabetic Society, the Kidney Foundation or the CNIB and are greatly appreciated by the family. Online memories and condolences are also a comfort to John and the family.

Our thoughts and prayers are with Jason and the rest of the Hamilton family at this difficult time. May your Mother rest in peace.

A very wise sage has left the building and left a hole in my heart. I first met Shirley (John and Jason) over 35 years ago when we both lived in Sarnia on Danbury Crescent, and we have remained friends ever since. I treasured our luncheon get togethers, sharing family updates, life's ups and downs, politics, and everything in between. Shirley had a wicked-sharp sense of humour, which she always tempered with honesty, kindness, and practicality. She was the most optimistic person that I have ever known. She met her health challenges head on, with a sense of humour and acceptance. A few hours of being with Shirley was so uplifting. She always kept me laughing. Because of her, I never needed a shrink. Thanks so much for enriching my life, Shirley. You will be sorely missed.

John We were very sorry to hear the passing of Shirley. We had a lot of fun times over the years at conventions and mid winters. Our thoughts and prayers are with you and your family at this time. We had planned on driving to Barrie to be with you today, however the weather did not co-operate. We will be making a donation to Eliminate in Shirley's memory
